My School Schedule… As Star Wars Classes

I’m so hyped for the new Star Wars movie, the Last Jedi! After The Force Awakens left us on a cliffhanger two years ago, many of our questions will finally be answered and we’ll get to see characters like Rey and Kylo Ren back in action. In honor of the best far, far away galaxy out there, I’ve reimagined each of my classes as a class taught by characters in the Star Wars universe on Star Wars-related topics. Enjoy!

1st Period: Honors Modern World History

SW Class: Honors Modern Worlds History

Teacher: Maz Kanata

Why study one world when you can study hundreds? Taught by the wise Maz Kanata, modern worlds history would enlighten me on the major events and figures from planets across the stars, from Alderaan to Tatooine.

2nd Period: Honors Biology

SW Class: Honors Cloning

Teacher: Kaminoans and Jango Fett

Technically, I took honors biology last year and am taking honors chemistry this year, but the idea of a class on how to brew death sticks just isn’t as interesting as one for building a clone army. Hopefully there’s a lesson on implanting Order 66.

3rd Period: Ceramics

SW Class: Architecture

Teacher: Yoda

When you’re alone in hiding on a swamp planet, building a home is a must, as shown by the humble dwellings of Jedi Master Yoda. But that is just one of the prominent structures in the galaxy, as buildings from the Senate to Cloud City to Echo Base on Hoth are jaw-dropping.

4th Period: AP Calculus

SW Class: AP Navigating

Teacher: Poe Dameron

Calculating the jump to hyperspace would be a breeze after taking this class. Plus, Resistance pilot Poe Dameron would be an excellent teacher and a cross-galaxy flying test for the AP exam would be awesome.

5th Period: Lunch

SW Class: Dexter Jettster’s Diner

Teacher: Dexter Jettster

Dexter Jettster’s diner looks like a great place to relax amongst the high-rising towers in Coruscant and is a much better alternative to Mos Eisley Cantina, a wretched hive of scum and villainy. And if you happen to have any poison darts, the four-armed Jettster has unrivaled knowledge on the subject.

6th Period: (Honors) Newspaper

SW Class: Honors Holocron

Teacher: Jocasta Nu

Holocrons are the ultimate archive- they hold the secrets about the past, present, and future. Clouded in mystery, holocrons would take months to study and Jedi librarian Jocasta Nu seems like she’d make a good teacher.

7th Period: AP (English) Language

SW Class: AP Diplomacy

Teacher: Obi-Wan Kenobi

Sorry Anakin, but sometimes aggressive negotiation isn’t the answer. AP Diplomacy focuses on how to build impeccable arguments, achieve an objective through conversation, and argue peacefully. The in-class essays would still be a challenge, though.

8th Period: AP Spanish Language

SW Class: AP Wookie

Teacher: C3P0

Everyone’s favorite protocol droid, who happens to be fluent in seven million different languages, would be an excellent language teacher, even if a bit socially incompetent. Of all of the languages in Star Wars, speaking Wookie would be the absolute coolest and the Wookiee culture would be especially interesting.

9th Period: Cross Country/Track

SW Class: Jedi Training

Teacher: Mace Windu

The best class of them all- Jedi training. Though a brutal test of body and mind, the Jedi training would be the best class. Lightsaber combat, mediation, missions- the Jedi life would be spectacular. And learning from Jedi Master Mace Windu, a master of Vaapad (which channels the dark side), would be legendary.
