What could Patrick Mahomes possibly do to further his legend as one of the NFL’s all-time greats? The answer, for the upcoming season at least, is to rewrite the record books and achieve what I believe would be the most impressive team achievement in NFL history: three consecutive Super Bowl titles.

Opinion: Orlando’s unusually active offseason positions young Magic core for continued contention
KCP is a two-time NBA champion who is an asset at Orlando’s areas of weakness, shooting and experience, so his signing could both stabilize the Magic’s lineup and accelerate its contention timeline. Combine the Caldwell-Pope signing with the extensions of two of Orlando’s most important figures, forward Franz Wagner and head coach Jamahl Mosley, and a couple of promising draft selections, and the Magic have good reason to believe they can continue its ascent to the top of the Eastern Conference.
Opinion: Dan Hurley’s flirtation with the NBA made sense, but passing on the Lakers’ head coaching position was a brilliant move
One of the fascinating developments in the sports world over the past 12 months has been changing of the guard for some of sports’ most iconic franchises and programs. Nick Saban’s retirement at Alabama football coming off a College Football Playoff appearance was a shock, while Pete Carroll’s dismissal with the Seattle Seahawks and Bill … Continue reading Opinion: Dan Hurley’s flirtation with the NBA made sense, but passing on the Lakers’ head coaching position was a brilliant move
Opinion: Authentic sports video games are thrilling, but arcade-type features are the key ingredient
This college football offseason, the hype isn’t focused on Heisman favorites, head coaching changes at three of the four College Football Playoff participants, the seismic changes of conference realignment or another on-the-field storyline. For what I have to imagine is the first time ever, the buzz is all about a video game: EA Sports’ College … Continue reading Opinion: Authentic sports video games are thrilling, but arcade-type features are the key ingredient
Opinion: In star-studded NBA Finals, the spotlight will shine the harshest on top-seeded Celtics
The Boston Celtics will take the floor at TD Garden on Thursday with an NBA-record 18th NBA Finals championship in their sights, a resounding 64 regular season wins (seven more than the next closest team) and a dominant 12-2 record in this year’s postseason bracket. That momentum ensures the Celtics will have an abundance of … Continue reading Opinion: In star-studded NBA Finals, the spotlight will shine the harshest on top-seeded Celtics
Opinion: 12 years in, has Nike’s NFL uniform partnership improved the league’s aesthetic?
In the 2012 offseason, Nike kicked off its brand-new NFL partnership with one of the most explosive, out-of-the-box and creative NFL uniform redesigns of all-time. While most teams saw a simple transition to Nike’s template after years in the Reebok mesh jerseys, the Seattle Seahawks unveiled an entirely new look with different patterns, colors and … Continue reading Opinion: 12 years in, has Nike’s NFL uniform partnership improved the league’s aesthetic?
Opinion: Incorporation of Negro League statistics to record books are a rare smash hit for Major League Baseball
Recently, the word “change” has had a negative connotation in the world of Major League Baseball. Most storylines about developments outside of the games themselves have been woeful, as a sport looking to regain momentum in a new generation has had as many, if not more, misses as hits. Just take the Oakland/Sacramento/Las Vegas A’s … Continue reading Opinion: Incorporation of Negro League statistics to record books are a rare smash hit for Major League Baseball
Opinion: Sean Payton got his guy at quarterback in the NFL Draft. Are their fates in Denver intertwined?
In the chilly Christmas Eve air at Empower Field at Mile High, Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton and New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick shared a field for possibly the last head-to-head matchup of their accomplished careers. Payton and Belichick are two of the most successful coaches of their generation, sharing dominant track … Continue reading Opinion: Sean Payton got his guy at quarterback in the NFL Draft. Are their fates in Denver intertwined?
Opinion: All the Cowboys needed to do this offseason was attempt to improve. Now, Super Bowl contention might be out of reach.
The 2023 Dallas Cowboys probably hit their peak on Dec. 10, 2023 with a commanding 33-13 rout of the archrival Eagles at AT&T Stadium. Propelled by an efficient showing from quarterback Dak Prescott and a defensive effort that included three recovered fumbles and only six points surrendered to the potent Philly offense, the Cowboys took … Continue reading Opinion: All the Cowboys needed to do this offseason was attempt to improve. Now, Super Bowl contention might be out of reach.
Opinion: NBA’s surprising final four ensures six straight seasons with a new champion. No complaints from me.
Regardless of this year's NBA Finals, the league will also have its sixth unique champion over a six-season stretch. The last time the NBA had a stretch of six seasons with six different champions was from 1975-1980, right around the merger of the NBA and ABA.
